About us

The Diabetes UK Guildford and South West Surrey group is one of over 350 voluntary groups situated throughout the UK.

Our goal is to provide support and educate people living with diabetes, as well as their family, friends and anyone else who is interested in knowing more about diabetes.

We encourage those interested to attend our group meetings which are a welcoming and social environment for people to discuss diabetes and its effects. We hold on-line zoom meetings and face to face coffee mornings on alternate months. Support and companionship are some of the simplest yet most important aspects of living with diabetes - this is why we exist and we want to help in any way that we can.

We have a strong tradition of fundraising both for Diabetes UK and for local services and were instrumental in initiating the fundraising for THE CEDAR CENTRE at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, opened after 10 years of campaigning.

We have close links with the Royal Surrey County Hospital - Professor David Russell-Jones is our president, and with the NHS in Surrey. We also work closely with the staff of the South East Coast and London region of Diabetes UK.

Members of the Group are involved with the Surrey Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programme, representing people with diabetes and in the past we have supported the Local Diabetes Implementation Team.
